South Coast Kinas
v
AndyCapped
The Kinas play the defending champs AndyCapped. The Ks are fresh from a
7-1 win and the last meeting between these two teams saw the Ks record
their only ever win over the Caps. The Caps are undefeated in four,
while the Kinas haven't lost in three, so expect a hard fought game. |
|
 |
Rongotai
v Red Rockers
Game two is Rongotai against the Red Rockers, an
encounter Rongotai have only won once. Rongotai are now five games
without a win, while the Rocks have won their last two. It's been 17
games since the Rocks even failed to score and 12 since Rongotai kept a
clean sheet, so expect goals. |

Shortjawed Kokopu
Collective
v Barca Bay
The Jaws will play
Barca at 2:45. In the three previous games, two have finished 3-3 while
the odd one out saw Barca win 9-2. Izaac O'Hara has scored in all
previous games - will Barca miss the TW Youngster? Especially as they've
lost their last two games. The Jaws are nine games without win, so have
their work cut out. Are they finally due a win? |
|
 |
Black Magic
v Bay Athletic
We end the weekend with Black Magic against Bay
Athletic. In nine previous encounters, Athletic have won once - an 11-0
thrashing! Both lost last weekend, but Athletic's defeat was a 7-1
drubbing and the last time they lost by 6 goals they won their next two
games. |

Barca Bay
v
Red Rockers
The new season kicks off tomorrow with Barca Bay taking
on the Red Rockers. The Rocks have never beaten Barca, but the new
season provides a clean start and Barca have had a few players called up
to the Team Welly youth. Their last two meetings produced 19 goals; will
the keepers be up to the challenge? |
|
 |
AndyCapped
v Black Magic
In the 1:45pm game, the two remaining Summer League
co-founders AndyCapped and Black Magic stage their 16th meeting. The
Magic have dominated historically, but the Caps swept the rivalry last
season and hold the Jessett Cup. Both teams are undefeated in three
games, so it could go either way. |
|
 |
Bay Athletic
v
South Coast Kinas
Bay Athletic play the
South Coast Kinas at 3:15pm, a fixture that averages around 5 goals a
game. Athletic have the edge with four wins out of seven and won their
last meeting 6-3, but have been known to lose this game 5-1. |
|
 |
Rongotai
v
Shortjawed Kokopu
Collective
The league's two newest teams will complete the
opening round. Rongotai beat the Shortjaws in both of their previous
meetings, but the last game was a 6-5 shootout. Word is that the Jaws
are stronger this year and Rongotai have lost playmaker Van Elia to Team
Wellington's youth squad. |
